Response: Marilyn Durso

I saw your email about participating in this blog. Ironically, I am drafting a letter to our candidates hoping to get a response. This forum gives me a good, first outlet.

My name is Marilyn from Massapequa. My son is attending USMA @ West Point, Class of 2010, a childhood dream. My pride is only surpassed by my love for him. He will honor his Commander in Chief and the duty before him at the time. Although there are so many issues and concerns of this country, having a President with good judgement, especially about this war is paramount for this family. We’re not alone for sure on this.

One of my questions to put to our candidates is this. How many of our congresspeople and adminstrators have sons and daughters serving in this war? I would suggest that this war isn’t personal enough to those who are making decisions. Another question, which we all have heard, is “What is Victory?” Is it possible to redefine that goal, achieve it, and come home?

I am suggesting that I will vote for the candidate that makes my son’s graduating class that “line in the sand”. I’ll bet if, say, President Bush’s daughter were serving in Iraq, we would be home.

God Bless America. Go Army. Marilyn Durso, Massapequa, NY
