“I sit at my computer, watching Fox News, reading your email and I can’t allow my fingers to push “Delete”. How do I feel about “war”? I despise the idea that in the year 2008, with a vivid world history of wars, oppression, genocide, etc. we still have a need and no other way to settle our differences. But how do you counteract the acts of terror that we have seen in the last ten years. Do we “turn the other cheek” or do we “fight fire with fire”? Only history will determine if we have made the “right choice”, if a “right choice” even exists. But the one aspect about our situation that is beyond reproach, criticism or debate is that we have many young, brave Americans involved in a violent conflict in a God forsaken foreign land, who are carrying out orders with which they may or may not agree, doing a job that they probably never imagined they would be asked to do; young Americans who are having their lives changed in ways that we can’t even imagine. To them we owe the deepest respect, admiration, gratitude and support; support that will carry them into a future of healing, of hope and of a return to a FREE America.
